Overview

Gosainkunda Lake Trek is a very famous holy lake for the Hindus and Buddhists, Thousands of Hindu pilgrims visit the lake every year during the full-moon festival in August. According to Hindu mythology, when God churned the primordial ocean to produce the elixir of eternal life, the poison was also produced simultaneously. To save the universe from this poison, Lord Shiva drank it scaring his throat blue in the process. This trek provides excellent views of snow-capped mountains, picturesque valleys,s and a glimpse of exotic 108 holy lakes with diverse ethnic cultures. Gosainkunda lake trek is one of the best trekking points in the Langtang region to trek throughout the year. There is are no difficult season in this trekking trail and it is situated at the altitude of 4380 m it is said that there is 108 lake in this area but you will be able to see a maximum of 7-8 lakes through your naked eyes which fall on the way of trekking trail. Itinerary Outline

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

Our Sange Sherpa Adventure Company Airport Representative will meet you outside the Terminal Hall. Please, look for our Adventure Guide/Staff Transfer to the hotel, introduce your trekking guide and check the necessities. Afternoon strolls Tourist colorful market Thamel downtown. Overnight in Kathmandu at Hotel with breakfast.

Day 02: Drive to DHUNCHE (117 km/7-8 hours: Drive by bus. (1950m) – Lodge (B/L/D).

Day 03: Trek to Sing Gompa (3584m) – Lodge (B/L/D).

Day 04: Trek to Gosainkund (4381m) – Lodge (B/L/D).

Day 05: Crossing Lauribinayak Pass (4609m) and trek to Ghopte (3430m) – Lodge (B/L/D).

Day 06: Trek to Tharepati (3600m) – Lodge (B/L/D).

Day 07: Trek to Gul Bhanjyang (2492m) – Lodge (B/L/D).

Day 08: Trek to Chisopani (2194m) – Lodge (B/L/D).

Day 09: Trek to Sundarijal (1463M), drive to Kathmandu (13 km/30 minutes: Drive by bus).

Day 10: Final Departure to your home.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

Please, look for our Adventure Guide/Staff Transfer to the hotel, introduce your trekking guide and check the necessities. Afternoon stroll Tourist colorful market Thamel downtown. Overnight in Kathmandu at Hotel with breakfast.

Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche 2030m by private vehicle (5/6 hours)

After breakfast, we will start our journey towards Dhunche. We will drive along the Trishuli River witnessing the beautiful hills and valleys along the way. Dhunche is the headquarters of Rasuwa district hence can be seen bustling with government officials. You can take a short walk around Dhunche Bazaar if you like. Overnight in Dhunche.

Day 3: Trek from Dhunche to Shin Gompa 3210m (4/5 hours)

Our actual trek begins from the morning in Dhunche. Leaving Dhunche, we make a steep ascent on a forested trail to reach Deurali. After a short rest in Deurali, we continue ascending through the rhododendron and oak forest on steep trails towards Chandanbari. If lucky, we might spot a red panda on the way today. We later walk on a flat trail through the bamboo forest to reach Shin Gompa, which hosts an amazing view of the Langtang Himal range. Overnight in Shin Gompa. 

Day 4: Trek from Shin Gompa to Gosainkunda 4380m (4/5 hours)

As we start our trek from Shin Gompa, we ascend on a ridge on a sparsely vegetated trail compact with the alluring landscape. In about 3 hours, we reach Laurebina watching the beautiful views of the mountains and the hills. After lunch in Laurebina, we continue our trail, which first ascends and then descends to reach Gosainkunda. The path takes us to the first lake—Saraswati Kunda, second lake—Bhairab Kunda, and finally to our destination i.e. Gosainkunda. We will spend our night at the peaceful and serene environment of the enchanting Gosainkunda.

Day 5: Trek from Gosainkunda to Ghopte 3430m (6/7 hours) via Lauribinayak Pass 4610m.

A steep ascend via small lakes surrounding Gosainkunda takes us to the top of Lauribinayak Pass (4610m), the highest elevation reached during the trek. From the top of the pass, we get an amazing vista of the Langtang Himal range along with the beautiful snow-clad peaks of Naya Kanga (5844m), Surya Peak (5145m), and Dorje Lakpa (6966m). Afterward, descending through juniper and rhododendron forests and walking along the rocky ridge, we reach Ghopte. Overnight in Ghopte.

Day 6: Trek from Ghopte to Mangengoth 3220m (5/6 hours).

After a short descend from Ghopte, we reach a cave. The trail then goes uphill to cross Thadepati Pass (3690m) and later descends through the forest and the meadows to reach Mangengoth. En route, we come across small Chortens hosting beautiful views of the gorgeous Langtang Himal range. Overnight in Mangengoth.

Day 7: Trek from Mangengoth to Gul Bhanjyang 2130m (5/6 hours).

Today we descend along with the rhododendron forests throughout the way from Mangengoth to Gul Bhanjyang. A gradual descend through the forest brings us to the picturesque settlement of Kutumsang. We enjoy our lunch here, viewing the majestic mountains. We then continue the trek and pass some Mani walls, Chortens, and prayer flags to arrive in Gul Bhanjyang for the overnight stay.

Day 8: Trek from Gul Bhanjyang to Chisapani 2215m (5/6 hours).

From Gul Bhanjyang, we start our trek towards Chisapani. The trail is flat and easy to walk on, with some paths paved with stones. We pass through many Buddhist monuments as we cross the villages of Thotundanda, Chipling, and Pati Banjyang on our way to Chisapani. Enjoy the skyline filled with glorious mountains as you sip your hot cup of tea at your hotel in Chisapani. Overnight in Chisapani.

Day 9: Trek from Chisapani to Sundarijal 1460m (5/6 hours) and Kathmandu by private vehicle.

Today we wake up early to witness the enticing sunrise over the gorgeous Himalayas. Later, we trek through the forest of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park to reach Kathmandu. Up to Borlang Bhanjyang, the trail is quite uphill, which later goes through the deep forest until we reach Mulkharka village. We can see Kathmandu Valley from here. A descend from Mulkharka, on stone steps, brings us to Sundarijal, where a private vehicle picks us up and drops us at your hotel in Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 10: Final Departure from Kathmandu

After a good breakfast, we will drop you off at the airport for your safe flight back home.

P.S: Depending on the ages of children, they get a discount in trek cost accordingly. Also, Horse renting in Langtang Region is USD 65 per day per horse including horse man, his food, accommodation, salary, and insurance.

Nepal Trekking Equipment List

This piece info is creating data on consumer goods and equipment needs, For those that would love an extra detailed discussion for equipment for the Nepalese Himalayan Trek.
The following equipment list is required for Nepal Trekking and climbing and a list, you have to have suggested equipment just have with you, however, that you just might have your own personal first choice equipment which can be equally as appropriate

Footwear

  1. Walking boots with suitable ankle support that have been worn-in prior to the trek, and which are waterproof.
  2. Trainer or casual shoes, for trekking and/or for travelling.
  3. Warm socks for colder areas.
  4. Gaiters, in case of rain or snow

Legwear

  1. Loose, casual trousers for trekking.
  2. Thermal leggings for colder areas.
  3. Long skirts for women as an alternative to trousers.
  4. Waterproof trousers

Body

  1. Selection of T-shirts, and long-sleeved shirts, preferably not cotton.
  2. Thermal shirt for colder areas.
  3. Warm shirt, possibly fleeces, for colder areas.
  4. Fleece jacket or warm wool jumper.
  5. Windproof, waterproof outer shell garment for higher altitudes.

Recommended Mountaineering Kit
